KURENTOVANJE 2011 Ptuj- the most important Carnival event in Slovenia

Finally is OUR TIME :))))))! Carnival crazy days!!!!!

The opening parade of Kurentovanje 2011 started with the transfer of power to the Prince of Carnival and with the tradicional FECC gathering of carnival figures and masks of Slovenia. Visiting PTI Kortrijk

Next to the Comenius project our 12-13 years old we work a lot of changing from priamary school to secundary school. In this contest we some secundary schools in Kortrijk which pupils with special needs can attend. A few weeks ago we went to a school were they can learn to work in a restaurant. Thurday we visited PTI for the first time and it was great. Just look at the pictures. Next week we go to an other school which the girls will like a lot...

Small bakers in action

The letter Ψψ (Ψ=Ps capital and small) gave us the chance to make bread (ψωμί=psomi=bread). So our Ψ acquired taste and smell. The ψ became fish and bread (psari=fish and psomi=bread). And smelled like fish and bread. (In greek we constructed 2 new words for these smells: psarila and psomila).

Just because learning is a chain, in which one link holds the other, the bread gave us the reason to know how we put an electrical appliance on, for the first time, how important the user's guide is and many more things. We also learnt that when we go into the kitchen to prepare something, we have to collect everything and wash utensils used when we finish. The modern school is the field where we learn about life and society. You can better understand what we mean by watching the followig videos.

May be you would expect us to prepare fish as well, but we thought the trouble to prepare it. Hold on for next time..............

Chicory harvest

As we told you 3 weeks ago, we tried to grow chicory. In the pictures you can see we succeded.

We collected the chicory, cut off the roots and tasted some. We all took some pieces home to prepare for dinner.

As you noticed on the Blog the Penn Pals of Ann's and Henrik's groups organized a small contest between each other. Well boys here ar your Belgian winners. They are 3 girls!

Dejan on the third time!!!!

Dejan will be defended the title of the world champion on the third time in Ljubljana again, on 18th February 2011 at 6.p.m.. Please all "Comenius Planet" watch on TV his match and cross fingers for his victory!!! His apponent is American Paul Delgado!

Dejan Zavec is the Slovenian sport brand of the year 2010 among male athletes

Dejan Zavec has won the Sport Brand of the 2010 Year Award defeating other top male athletes in Slovenia. The award givin to Mr. Sympatikus based on the research made by the market and media research . Dejan had received the Award at Sporto Conference in Portorose where he once again impressed with attractive appeal: "Uh, that was a true knockout in the first round, "he said laughing and admitted he is very happy winning that briliant award in such a competitive category full of top athletes.

Also he is the personality of the Year 2010 selected by the readers of newspaper Delo and he got a Bloudek award for top international sporting achievements.

SVS petanque, bowls

SVS is an organisation who organizes sports events for special schools. They take place on Wednsesday afternoon once in 2 or 3 months. Today Dominique, Chirstophe and I took 13 pupils of 4 diffrent groups to Wargem to play bowls. The sporters were very nervous but had fantastic results!
We had 3 teams of 12-13 year old and one team of 9 -11 year old. Here are the pictures of a very happy team!

We stayed at school to have lunch. Because there is no school on Wednesday afternoon we had the cafetaria just for us!

Loïc, Charlotte, Mohamed and Jitse became 3rd in the 9-11 year old.

Henri, Shawn and Aaron became 2nd in the 12-13 year old.Lieselotte, Michaël and Elenie won the competion for the 12-13 year old.

Our 4th became 4th so they didn't get a medal but...

We won the general competion and received this big cup!
We had a great afternoon. Next time we play handball.

Friday we in Denmark(4b-5b) were judges and voted on which of Paintings from Belgium were the best. It was difficult, because they all were very nice.

It was very exciting to vote and here are pictures of the "council".

Number 12 ,9 and 3 came in second, so no third place, but 3 second place :-))

The winners of the sculpture contest: Jacob and Magnus B. They got Belgium chocolate, delicious!!

Activity Week in Wales

We went to Wales Sunday 23rd Jan - Friday 28th Jan and there we did some exciting activities. On Monday we walked to the top of Bird Rock (in the Welsh language this is called Craig yr Aderyn) then we went onto the beach and climbed over, under and between large rocks. On Tuesday we went down a slate mine and we had to climb and abseil in there. In the afternoon we had a group activity where we had to help each other through a "spiders web" made of rope without touching it...... not easy. On Wednesday we went rock climbing and abseiling. Thursday we did orienteering in the forest and in the afternoon we went gorge walking, this is walking up a gorge in the river. The water was very, very cold. On Friday we did the low ropes course, we have to move along different ropes from tree to tree without touching the ground.

We came home to Lincoln in the afternoon, our journey took 6 hours to complete.

We had a great time.

Belgian songs

Hi,
Yesterday we looked at the Greek songs and chose ours. We went for a Flemish children song, a Flemish summer hit and a Belgian artist who sings in French. We sang and danced on it . This was fun and we hope you like our songs.
