Well done Dejan from England

Queens Park Schools new minibus

Today 15th November 2010 RAF Number 8 Squadron presented Queens Park School with a new minibus. Class 10 students went to RAF Waddington to receive the minibus. The squadron has worked very hard to raise money to buy the minibus for us.

The weather was fabulous for us with a bright blue sunny sky which was perfect for the bar-b-cue after the presentation. The burgers were cooked very well.

In the photograph above Wing Commander Paul Moss is handing over the keys to the minibus to Jan Robinson (Class 10 teacher) with the AWAC's aircraft in the back ground.

We are very grateful to the men and women of Number 8 Squadron for giving us this new minibus and it will be used a great deal in our work at school.

sweet baked quince from Greece

Today in the Kitchen of our school we prepeared sweet baked quince.

This activity was part of developing the skils of our studens, the socialization of the interdisciplinary approach to the curriculum oj health education and activities of the European grogram COMENIUS involved in our school.

The result enjioyed the pupils and the teachers.

You can get a taste by opening the relevant video and if you like follow the recipe to make the quince.

The recip, the ingredients and preparation

One pound or more of clams, a bottle of red wine, two cups sygra, cinamon if you like this.

Cut the quince pieces, put then in a pan, cover whith wine, add sugar and bake at 200 degrees in oove for 1 hour or 1:30 if is necessary

First aid

In the last two weeks, we have had first aid as a theme :-)

Thursday we were out trying some of what we have learned in first aid. It was a kind of roleplay with an earth quake and other exciting things. It was very funny.

Toeka

Toeka is our school bird. He helps us to develop our social skills. Once a month he comes to visit our school. All pupils come together and Toeka has a message. He also wants to know who has a birthday. They get a treat and a card and their picture is on the headmasters door for that month. There is also a special Toeka dance.

Now the secret behind the bird. We ( Ann and Freddy's pupils) organise the Toeka moment each month under the supervision of Ann. We can bring our ideas together and organise the moment as we want. It's great to get the responsability to do this. We hope you will meet Toeka when you come to visit Belgium.

Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award

Hello Everyone

Last Tuesday 2nd November two students James and Scott at Queens Park School went to St James's Palace in London to receive a certificate for achieving their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. They received their certificate from Prince Philip (The Duke of Edinburgh as he is also known) he is married to Queen Elizabeth II.

It took over three years hard work for James and Scott to reach the Gold Award, they had to work at a local park clearing weeds, cutting down trees, picking up litter, repairing paths and clearing leaves and many other jobs in the park. They had to do a sport and James and Scott both played ten pin bowling. They also had to walk many miles carrying a rucksack containing their clothes, food and drink and then sleep in a tent.

Sally and Geoff also went with them to the Palace to see them receive their certificate. I wish someone had told me that my shirt was not tucked into my trousers, I do look a mess!

The night before the presentation James went with his parents to see Dirty Dancing at the theatre and Scott went for a meal in a restaurant with his Mum.

Fruit salad.

Today was the last day before a week off. So our teacher decided to make fruit salad to end this part of the 1st term. We all brought a piece of fruit and prepared a delicious fruit salad. We took the peels to the school garden and put them in the compost bin. We also worked in the garden a little bit and collected the pumpkins an other group growed.
Now we are all ready for a week off!
