A week in our tents

All the tents in a row

Sitting on a bench in Lincoln town centre eating lunch

Derick washing the pots

Jordan and Derick having dinner

Jordan throwing a "pop-up" tent into the air

Everyone then helps to pitch the tent

Jordan, Derick, Stuart, Simon walking to the camp site

Marching along, full of energy

They have to help each other to put up their tents

Hello Folks
We have completed another practice expedition for the bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. The pupils have to carry all their clothes and sleeping bag to the camp site. The distance they had to walk was 12k. When they arrived at the site they had to put up their tents. We use "pop-up" tents because they are easy and quick to put up. We cook and eat our food in a wooden hut, this makes it a little bit more comfortable. The weather was very good for us and we only had a small amount of rain on Thursday evening.
We have Tanja from Slovenia joining us for our summer camp maybe she would like to chose the colour of her tent?
We are doing the expedition again week commencing May 17th and then the pupils will have achieved their award.
Geoff

  1. I'm sure they will get their award.
About the tents, as a real city person I am sure I would not get any tent ready to sleep in.
I think Tanja will choose the blue on!

  2. Ann,the hotels in Lincoln are very expensive, maybe a tent could be the way to save a lot of money in October. Breakfast would only be a bowl of cereal and a couple of slices of toast.Red or blue tent for you?

  4. Hello Tanja
The hotel that you will be staying in is quite small and only has 8 bedrooms so this will not be large enough and most importantly for the group IT DOES NOT HAVE A BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
