Hello
On Thursday 25th June we went on a long, long walk (and sometimes climbing) to the top of England's highest mountain Sca Fell Pike (977 m). We had members from the Royal Air Force to help us and we needed them, they were a great help to us. In the group photo standing on the grass the pupils from school were Scott (white cap), James (red shirt), Chris (grey shirt), Jenny (white shirt blue stripes), Charlotte (blue shirt), Stephen (green shirt), Adam (long trousers), the staff, me (fat belly), Chris (silly hat), Sally (hiding at the back). Sca Fell is in the Lake District part of north west England and is so called because there are many lakes and also many very high hills. It rains a great deal in this area of England but we were very lucky and had sunshine all day. At the very top it was cold and windy so we did not stay too long before starting the walk back down again. It took over 9 hours to complete the walk, a total distance of 10 miles (16K).
I was shattered at the end of it all my old legs took a pounding, but the steak and chips washed down with a pint of beer made me forget about the pain. I am not in a hurry to do this walk again.
